Rooms
Your time is completely your own at Stobo – spend as much or as little as you wish relaxing in your elegant bedroom, located on one of four floors in the main castle or within a lodge setting. Rooms vary in size and shape and the personality of each is unique, but all are rich and elegant with the perfect ambience to make one feel comfortable, and often with superb views over peaceful countryside.
Each room features en-suite bath/shower rooms, tea and coffee making facilities, television, radio and telephone. Bedrooms are not air-conditioned, however fans are provided and rooms are serviced on a daily basis. Due to the age and nature of the building, there is no lift access to some of the bedrooms.
The Cashmere Suite

The Bedroom
The bedroom walls are dressed in rich claret coloured cashmere, sourced from Holland & Sherry in Peebles. Integrated plasma screen televisions are placed at the bottom of two cashmere covered 7 x 5 ft beds from Italy which are hand painted and detailed to reflect the design of the silk curtains in the living room. A discreet dressing room is entered via the bedroom, panelled in the American Black Walnut finishing that is the theme throughout the suite. Here you will find a Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, a bespoke Cashmere Suite robe each for your use during your stay and So Stobo slippers.
The Bathroom
The bathroom within The Cashmere Suite is a true haven in itself. Handcrafted from one piece of limestone and weighing over a ton, is a breath-taking cream bath, which is the focal point of the room. Amber and aubergine up-lighters illuminate the room and complement the colour scheme. With under-floor heating to keep toes toasty and an integrated flat screen television, no detail has been excluded. Spoil yourself with the Penhaligons luxury bathing products in “Halfeti”, “Blenheim Bouquet 1902” and “Quercus” scents and the softest of towels complete the sensual indulgence of this suite.
The Lounge
An abundance of silk complements the cashmere in the lounge with the most superior lighting technology available on the market place. The floor boasts a truly stunning Zeigler rug that embraces all the colours of the suite and covers most of the room. On the walls hang paintings by Scottish based artist Deirdre Edwards – taken from her exhibition in the Scottish Gallery. The artwork, which features portraits set in a Chinese landscape, exhibits a style that is felt to be a break away from the traditional Scottish landscapes which one expects in such situations. A selection of Nespresso coffee is on offer, along with Pekoe Tea, including the bespoke “So Stobo” Sleep flavour, with crockery from the Villeroy & Boch range.
The Private Terrace
After you’ve explored the interior, step through the French doors to take in the stunning views from the private terrace – the perfect location for al fresco dining or relaxing on the comfortable loungers.
Deluxe Rooms with Terrace
THE MURRAY ROOM & THE PHILIPSON ROOM
Within the Murray room, you’ll find fresh, crisp colours of woodland green and navy. This summer garden room is a firm favourite with our guests, along with Philipson which features relaxing shades of teal. Each have two king-sized beds for added comfort. Both are located on the upper ground floor and, in each, French doors open onto a terrace shared with the adjoining room, inviting you to enjoy the beautiful landscaped gardens and Scottish countryside from the comfort of the rattan loungers.

Choose from one of our luxurious, deluxe rooms and enjoy spacious surroundings and stunning décor. Most offer beautiful views across the Scottish countryside. Refreshments include bottled water and a box of Walkers shortbread or for something hot, we offer a selection of Pekoe Tea including the bespoke “So Stobo” Sleep flavour and Nespresso coffee, with crockery from the Villeroy & Boch range.

The Lennox Room
This very traditional room is bathed in Roman terracotta colours, with its French Toile de Jouy fabric and King sized beds for added comfort. The stunning views of the manicured lawns and countryside beyond are a winner for us here at Stobo Castle.
The Maitland Room
The subtle range of colours invite you in to enjoy this room with two generous King sized beds for your comfort. In the bathroom, you will find a large bath and a separate shower.
Both rooms have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The Seymour Room
This superb corner room provides beautiful panoramic views from its triple windows, the French style interior is in rich raspberry and ocean blues. Two king sized beds and a French day bed allow for three people to enjoy this very comfortable and popular suite.
The Elliott Room
All honeysuckle and checks, this cosy and comfortable room boasts two double beds and a beautiful countryside view.
The stunning bathroom features underfloor heating to warm your toes, plus a double walk-in power shower and a large, deep bath in which to luxuriate.
The Oriental Suite
Luxury taken to another level describes our x2 doubled-bedded Oriental Suite with its rich peony and lime green bamboo design. Luxuriate in Penhaligons bubbles in the stunning designer bath while watching your favourite programme on the wall mounted mirrored television. Please note: The Oriental Suite is situated on the lower ground floor and offers a limited view.
Superior Rooms
Each individually-designed superior room offers comfortable accommodation with twin/double-bedded rooms on all four floors of the main castle and two spacious triple rooms in Park Lodge. The twin rooms each have two double or king-sized beds, all have en-suite shower or bathrooms and many offer superb views of the Scottish countryside.
A GHD hairdryer, slippers, bottled water and luxury So Stobo toiletries are provided for your convenience, plus a fluffy So Stobo bathrobe for the duration of your visit.
Classic Rooms
Our classic rooms are also individually-designed, and comprise of single, twin and double-bedded rooms on all four floors of the main castle and the first floor of the Spa Courtyard.
Our classic rooms all have en-suite shower or bathrooms and some offer superb views of the beautiful Scottish countryside.
A hairdryer, slippers, bottled water and luxury So Stobo toiletries are provided for your convenience, plus the use of a fluffy So Stobo bathrobe for the duration of your visit.
Single Rooms
For those who are joining us alone or prefer separate accommodation, “Dreva” & “Melrose” are classic single rooms with en-suite shower rooms, located on the first and second floors of the castle and “Cockburn” is a superior single room on the lower ground floor. Providing a private space in which to relax in peace, these rooms are fairly small and the view is limited, therefore no single supplement applies.
Each been exquisitely decorated and include a hairdryer, slippers, bottled water, luxury So Stobo toiletries and a fluffy So Stobo bathrobe for the duration of your visit.

PARK LODGE & CASTLE LODGE
Park Lodge
Park Lodge is a self-contained, secluded environment linked to the castle providing luxurious accommodation for up to 12 guests. Surrounded by it’s own mature landscaped gardens, Park Lodge has all the comfort and atmosphere of home combined with the stunning range of health & beauty facilities available at Stobo. The beauty of Park Lodge is that guests have their own private retreat for the time they want to spend together, whether that’s catching up with friends or family, celebrating a special occasion or a corporate event.
Accommodation is available in two spacious triple rooms, each with two double beds and one single bed and three twin-bedded rooms, each with two double beds, and all with en-suite bathrooms. There is also a comfortable sitting room with French doors opening out onto a delightful terrace. GHD hairdryers, slippers, bottled water and luxury So Stobo toiletries are provided for your convenience, plus a fluffy So Stobo bathrobe for the duration of your visit.
When viewing our rates, please note that Park Lodge accommodation is classed as “Superior”.
Castle Lodge
Located just a 200 yard outside walk from the main castle, Castle Lodge’s contemporary style rooms offer extremely good value for money.
The Lodge sleeps a maximum of 24 guests in 8 twin rooms (each with two double beds) and 4 double rooms (each with one king-sized bed) over two floors. “Kailzie” (twin) features a wet room and has been recently adapted to include patio doors and a ramp for wheelchair access.
Hairdryers, slippers, bottled water, luxury So Stobo toiletries and umbrellas are provided for your convenience, plus a fluffy So Stobo bathrobe for the duration of your visit.
A changing room for Castle Lodge guests is available in the spa and please note that there is no private lounge in this lodge.
Our lodges are incredibly popular so if groups require sole occupancy of either setting, please book early.
