“We are just writing to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Stobo Castle over Hogmanay. We have travelled all around the world (over 80 countries) and have stayed in some of the world’s top hotels but our stay at Stobo must rank as one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had.
The Hogmanay party was superb. We could not have scripted a better evening and it far exceeded all our expectations.
The castle is spectacular, and the spa ticks all the boxes but what makes Stobo stand out is the staff. We don’t think that we have ever been to a place where the staff work together so well as a team and seem to delight have such pride in providing the best possible experience to guests. ALL the team were magnificent, so we hesitate to name names but Laura, who looked after us at a few mealtimes, is delightful and Kate, who we understand is quite new, tried so hard to look after us and engage with us at breakfast on the last morning; it was heart-warming. Also, the chap managing the coffee bar in the evening (whose name we didn’t get, unfortunately) was magnificent not only in briefing us on the history of the castle but then going to reception to get us copies of the written expose on the castle. However, the whole team (including Mandy) should really get a mention. I should also mention that I am also now a dedicated cushion plumper having seen the cushions in the coffee bar being plumped regularly!
